They won\u2019t be able to dip into superannuation, as was suggested earlier this year.<\/li>\n<li>Retired couples who downsize by selling their homes will be offered exemptions from new superannuation caps of $100,000 in after-tax contributions and $1.6 million in retirement accounts.<\/li>\n<li>A \u201cghost house tax\u201d will be imposed on foreign investors who leave their properties vacant, a practice known as \u201cland banking\u201d.<\/li>\n<li>A \u201cbond aggregator model\u201d will enable loans to community housing associations at lower long-term rates to encourage investment.<\/li>\n<li>The Government has ruled out doing much to reduce demand, including changes to negative gearing or capital gains tax concessions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Other notable announcements include: major changes to school funding, an increase to university fees by around 8%, changes to the pharmaceutical bebnefits scheme and a crackdown on welfare recipients with the proposed implementation of a driver style \u2018demerit point\u2019 system.<\/p>\n<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-17960 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/www.purefinance.com.au\/uploads\/2017\/05\/DSC_0186-846x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"846\" height=\"1024\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.purefinance.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/DSC_0186-846x1024.jpg 846w, https:\/\/www.purefinance.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/DSC_0186-248x300.jpg 248w, https:\/\/www.purefinance.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/DSC_0186-840x1016.jpg 840w, https:\/\/www.purefinance.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/DSC_0186-992x1200.jpg 992w, https:\/\/www.purefinance.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/DSC_0186-768x929.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.purefinance.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/DSC_0186-544x658.jpg 544w, https:\/\/www.purefinance.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/DSC_0186.jpg 1587w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 846px) 100vw, 846px\" \/>\n<p>Expect a full breakdown on all proposed cuts and spending at 7.30pm tonight.<\/p>\n<p>Will you be tuning in?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What are the government's plans to ease house prices and increase supply in Australia's hotly contested property market<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":90,"featured_media":17957,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[33],"tags":[],"financial_goals":[],"class_list":["post-17956","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-finance"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.7 -
